A dog named Big Mac has been in the shelter for a long time and, finally, he is going to be adopted.
Every day thousands of animals around the world are thrown into the streets or shelters. Although this number has decreased over the years, it is still quite large. Big Mac was one of those, but luckily it had a happy ending.
The animal belonged to a young man who decided to leave it last December at the McKamey Animal Center located in Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA. Apparently, the young man did not have time to take care of the dog, as he was going to move to another state. When the dog arrived at the shelter, he looked very nervous because he didn’t know the people around him.

When Big Mac arrived at the McKamey Animal Center in Chattanooga, Tennessee, it was clear that the puppy had a long way to go to find a family.
The dog was nervous about new people and coped poorly with the environment of the shelter.

Lauren Mann, the head of the shelter, told The Dodo :
“We didn’t really know what his living environment looked like, but it was quite obvious that he didn’t trust anyone.”
Nevertheless, thanks to the patience and care of the staff of the animal house, Big Mac got used to his new life. Although he waited about a year to be adopted by a new family, this opportunity came when one of the volunteers fell in love with him.

Mann added :
“When my colleague brought the dog home, he slept for about 12 hours straight. He rested and quickly adapted, started playing, and even wanted to walk with the cats.”
When Big Mac was leaving the shelter to join his new family, Mann and his team gathered at the entrance to give an ovation to the oldest resident.
